The Aquarium de Paris, also known as Cinéaqua, is located beneath the Trocadéro gardens with spectacular views of the Eiffel Tower. This unique subterranean aquarium houses over 10,000 fish and marine creatures in 50 tanks, making it a perfect family outing in Paris. The venue combines entertainment with education through feeding sessions, touch pools, and informative displays.
Opened in 2006 in the former Trocadéro aquarium (which dates to 1878), the facility has been completely modernized. Visitors walk through themed zones representing different marine environments: tropical reefs, Mediterranean waters, and the Pacific Ocean. The centerpiece is the shark pool, where you can observe several species from an underwater tunnel.
The aquarium is organized into several sections. The Caribbean zone features colorful tropical fish and coral. The Pacific zone showcases larger species including sharks, while the Mediterranean section highlights species found in French coastal waters. Touch pools allow children to interact with starfish and other safe marine life under staff supervision.
Feeding sessions are scheduled throughout the day—check the timetable at the entrance. These presentations are both entertaining and educational. The cinema room shows nature documentaries, and special events are held during school holidays. The aquarium is fully accessible for visitors with reduced mobility.
Allow 2 to 3 hours for a relaxed visit. The aquarium is climate-controlled and makes an excellent rainy-day activity. Strollers are permitted, and there is a café on site. The location is ideal for combining with a visit to the Trocadéro gardens and Eiffel Tower—all within walking distance.
Online booking is recommended to guarantee entry and sometimes offers better rates. Our partner GetYourGuide provides skip-the-line tickets with flexible cancellation. The aquarium welcomes school groups and can organize birthday parties with advance booking.
